Hospice care in general, is covered 100% by Medicare/Medicaid.
Most private insurances may cover all or part of hospice care and hospice is also covered by the Veteran's Benefit Plans.

Hospice care is similar to palliative care, but there are important differences. Because more than 90 percent of hospice care is paid for through the Medicare hospice benefit, hospice patients must meet Medicare’s eligibility requirements; palliative care patients do not have to meet the same requirements.

Facing a terminal illness brings with it many concerns. Paying for end-of-life care shouldn’t be one of them.
Savior Hospice is 100% covered by Medicare. There are not out-of-pocket costs to you.
Hospice care is covered 100% by Medicare/Medicaid.
There is no reason to defer hospice care due to financial concerns. The Medicare Hospice Benefit is an inclusive benefit, in which all services that are related to the terminal illness are covered 100% by Medicare part A. There are no co-pays or out-of-pocket expenses.
Coverage includes everything involved in hospice care, from visits by a nurse, physician and other healthcare professionals to therapy, medication and supplies.
*Care that is unrelated to the terminal illness continues to be covered by Medicare Parts A and B, with all normal rules applicable (e.g., co-payments, coverage guidelines and deductibles).
The Medicare Hospice Benefit
The Medicare Hospice Benefit provides coverage for the following services:
- An interdisciplinary team of hospice professionals
- Home medical equipment
- Medication
- Respite care
- Continuous care
- Inpatient care
- Routine home care
- Bereavement support

For those not eligible for Medicare or Medicaid, payment for hospice can come from private insurance or an HMO, since these also include a hospice benefit.
Hospices employ financial specialists to help families who do not qualify for federal assistance and do not have insurance find available resources. The payment options for these families include self-pay and charitable organizations.

Savior Hospice has one of the only licensed palliative Medicare programs in Arizona. Our services are 100% covered under Medicare and there is no out-of-pocket cost to you.
We are in-network with most medicaid programs.
If you have private insurance, you can check with your carrier or health plan to find out what is covered, what is not covered and whether you are responsible for co-pays, out-of-pocket costs or other charges. You can also call your team and we can run your insurance benefits for you.
