Bereavement Support

Grief is a reaction to loss, any loss.  Grief is most often associated with death, but we grieve a variety of losses throughout our lives:  the end of a relationship, retirement, role changes, relocation, children leaving home and the loss of health and mobility are only a few examples.  Grief often results in feelings of anger, guilt, regret, fear, loneliness, and depression.  But grief affects us in other ways as well—physically, socially, behaviorally, spiritually, and cognitively.

Bereavement is the way we process grief.  Each of us grieves in our own way and time, affected by such factors as our culture, gender, length and nature of the relationship and circumstances surrounding the loss.  Every loss has a unique meaning to us.

Holy Savior Hospice is pleased to include a number of support and resources that are designed to promote positive ways for healing.  Bereavement support is provided to patients’ families for at least thirteen months after the death of a loved one.
